Taha’a Island Taha'a is accessed by flight to Raiatea its neighbouring island followed by a short launch transfer. The island is an enchanting paradise set in an emerald lagoon surrounded by "motu," tiny islets with superb white sandy beaches, Taha'a is an ancient volcano dominated by mount Ohiri (598 metres), with an exceptional panoramic view. Carved out with deep valley that give it its indented shape, this unspoit island is also reputed for its picturesque archaeological sites hidden among the palms, ferns and grasses that flourish up to the summit of the crests. It is known as the Vanilla Island as it is home precious orchids that prosper in its numerous plantations, there are a number of 4WD tours on the island offering tours of these plantations with tropical fruit tasting and island safaris.
Tahaa lagoon is well known for its diving in the lagoon where you can observe eels, gray sharks, napoleons, shoal of barracuda and enchanting coral gardens. Most of the resorts offer guided tours around the island by canoe; sumptuous picnics on a motu, ray feeding and cruise on board a yacht or catamaran in the crystal clear waters of the lagoon. Raiatea IslandThe Sacred Raiatea lies in the same lagoon as Taha'a and is know for its diving with underwater gardens and coral reef. The island has ideal sailing conditions which make it French Polynesia’s nautical centre, many charter companies are located around the bays, providing small group yacht cruises.
