13 Day The Cooks Classic

13 Day The Cooks Classic

Itinerary Information

The 15 islands of the Cook archipelago, scattered over close to a million square miles and 600 miles from their nearest neighbour, are known as The Last Paradise. You won’t have an issue with that, even though we’re inviting you to sample just two of the islands. With flights leaving from the UK on Sunday and 12 night stays fitting neatly with airline schedules, our twin centre itinerary is particularly ideal for honeymooners.

Little Polynesian resortDays 1 to 6 Rarotonga

The ga teway i slan d of the Cooks is dominated by high mountain peaks and encircled by a reef which harbours a lagoon with the heavenly South Seas colour- coding of white (sands), turquoise (lagoon), deep green (rainforest) and indigo blue (the ocean beyond the reef). As the entire island is only 20 or so miles in circumference, getting around - by scooter, jeep, bus or bike - is easy. There are two main roads, one around the island, which links beaches and villages on a single thread of tarmac, the other winding inland through fields of taro, pawpaw and bananas.

You’ll stay at the Little Polynesian resort, located on the southern side of Rarotonga and featuring the island’s most beautiful stretch of white sand beach and some of the best snorkelling. Owned by two sisters, the small (just 14 simple beachfront and garden bures), romantic property has been recently rebuilt and given a contemporary stamp, with Polynesian artworks and a delightful restaurant. Or consider one of our other options in our Cook Islands choice of resorts section.

The Pacific ResortDays 7 to 12 Aitutaki

Less than an hour’s flight from Rarotonga, volcanic Aitutaki is a place of unsurpassed natural beauty, famous for its gorgeous lagoon, and tranquillity, a simple tonic to soothe away the pressures of the outside world. You’ll stay at the Pacific Resort, the most luxurious option on the Cooks, set in 17 acres of tropical forest on a pure white beach over 650m long, with panoramic views across Aitutaki’s huge lagoon, its perimeter sprinkled with many uninhabited motus. There’s a well-camouflaged spread of individual buildings, blending colonial and traditional Polynesian looks, with 30 individual bungalows, suites and villas. Or consider one of our other options in our Cook Islands Resorts list.
