Barely detectable on the globe, the islands of the South Pacific Islands lie scattered like confetti in the biggest, emptiest and least explored of its oceans. With their pearl-white beaches, thick matting of vegetation and seas that cover the entire repertoire of blues, from pale chalky peppermint to Waterman’s blue black, nowhere in the world comes closer to fulfilling our dreams of island paradise.
All three groups of islands we offer are very different and we love them all for different reasons.
Fiji for example has a variety of accommodation styles from luxury resorts on the mainland and idyllic island hideaways so is ideal for all sorts of budgets but its biggest attraction is the people who are just the friendliest on the planet and can’t do enough to please you.
The Cook Islands are the best value for money with mainly 4 star resort hotels and plenty of villa accommodation they are the most affordable. We also like the independence you have in the Cooks as it is very easy to leave your resort and explore the islands by car or local bus.
French Polynesia is just spectacularly stunning with the whitest of beaches and beautiful volcanic islands and it is home to some absolutely luxurious resorts, however it is pricey so we would only recommend visiting these islands if you have the budget to not only book it in the first place but also be able to spend money when you are there as prices in the resorts are quite steep.
A little about the islands
Fiji
The three hundred and thirty three Fiji Islands lie at the cross roads of the Pacific. As well as azure waters and white-sandy beaches, coral islets and tropical resorts Fiji is home to rugged mountains, lush green rinforest, waterfalls and remote villages. Culturally, Fiji has become the melting pot of the South Pacific. The influences of Pacific, Indian, European and Chinese cultures are reflected in the food, architecture, language and religion. The genuine friendliness of the islands' 800,000 residents combined with the unique environment, extreme beauty and soothing tranquility has created a perfect holiday destination. Fiji is also recognized as a world premier dive destination with year-round sunshine.
Cook Islands
At the very centre of the Polynesian triangle, the Cook Islands consist of 15 islands scattered over some 2 million square kilometres of the Pacific Ocean. With a land area of just 240 square kilometres, the islands range from low coral atolls to the mountainous majesty of Rarotonga, the largest island of the group and home to the capital, Avarua.
The two main islands visited by international guests are Rarontonga a circular island only 32 km in circumference, dominated by high mountain peaks and a palm-fringed shore, and Aitutaki, just an hours flight from Rarotonga and famous for its stunning lagoon with its crystal clear turquoise waters and sparkling white beaches.
French Polynesia
French Polynesia’s is made up of 115 islands which sprawl over a sea as big as Western Europe, belong to five distinct archipelagos. Each has its own culture and landscape, from the volcanic peaks of the Society Islands to the flat, Crusoe-like Tuamotus.
