Walking and Adventure

If you’re some who prefers an active holiday, rather than just relaxing by the pool combined with some light sightseeing or an outing or two from the resort, you’ll find Bridge & Wickers has holidays to inspire the most adrenaline demanding traveller as well as those looking for softer adventures. One of our most popular activities is walking, with New Zealand having some of the best trails in the world (including the famous Milford Track), but we also offer walking and trekking in Thailand, Borneo, Canada and Australia, to say nothing of walking safaris in Zambia and Mozambique, rhino tracking in Namibia, canoe safaris in Zimbabwe and Zambia and both horse and camel safaris in Kenya. Watersports, including both diving and sailing, are also featured throughout our various destinations.

Australia offers a heady mix of activity, from hot air ballooning, horse riding and hiking (especially in the temperate wilderness of Tasmania) to remarkable outback adventures combining 4WD forays with sleeping under the stars. Water babes will also find some of the most exciting surf on the planet, excellent diving and snorkelling, white water rafting and sailing horizons which extend from Sydney Opera House to deserted Barrier Reef islands.

Just thinking about a holiday to New Zealand can start the body tingling. Nowhere offers a mix of activity and adventure in quite the same league, or with so much diversity. Although best known for such high octane activities as Bungy jumping there are softer adventures to be had including sea kayaking, cycling, fishing and hiking along some of the most famous trails in the world.

As you’d expect from its soaring peaks, miles of shoreline and wild rivers, plus more than 30 national parks, there’s masses of scope for engaging with the Great Outdoors as well as sitting back and simply gazing at the stunning land and seascapes. In particular we would recommend you try your hand at canoeing.

You can play a much more active role in your holiday to Asia than you might imagine. You should definitely go trekking by elephant, and even acquire the skills of a ‘mahout’, learn how to cook one of the most exotic of cuisines, even how to give a massage as well as receive one. There’s also the option to go trekking in among the hill tribes of the Golden Triangle or in the rainforests of Borneo.
