Whitsunday Islands in Style
Australia’s premier 5 star island resort Hayman will open its new beach villas on December 1st.. Already being predicted among the finest accommodation in the southern hemisphere, there will be eight units in all, each with 120 square metres of sheer indulgence leading right onto the beach. Best news of all: Until 31st March 2011 prices are being held at the same level as Hayman’s premium suites, which have a mere 32 square metres!
Australia on track
Rail Australia has introduced two itineraries for its luxurious, fully escorted Southern Spirit. Early in the New Year it will be offering two, five night itineraries, starting (or finishing) in either Adelaide or Melbourne. They will follow the line of the Great Dividing Range to Brisbane, with the train stopping each night in small towns along the way. Southern Spirit will travel on tracks unused by other trains and a number of whistle stop tours, as well as all meals with wine, will be included in the price from £2625 – which is roughly 50 percent of the previous cost of travelling on this illustrious train. Our consultants have full details of the departure dates and details of the itinerary.
Guided driving
Anyone attracted to the idea of driving in the outback, but apprehensive about going it alone, might welcome a new option. This new, week long South Australia self-drive ‘Tagalong’ concept consists of a mini convoy of 4WD vehicles - maximum 10 – which travel under the guidance of a lead vehicle which keeps in regular radio contact with its ‘goslings’, both for practical purposes and to act as a guide as the journey unfolds. Think flotilla sailing but on terra firma! Ask our consultants for more details.
Boutique tours
The Southern Highlands, a little known but delightfully scenic rural corner south of Sydney, is a new day tour with a distinct wildlife theme. With a maximum of ten people on a tour, accompanied by a naturalist, the ‘tick box’ of sightings is likely to include Australia’s ‘Big Five’: kangaroo, koala, platypus, emus and wombats. The tour leaves the city at noon, returns at 10.30 pm (so as to include night drives and sightings) and includes both a picnic lunch and dinner in a traditional pub. Call our Specialist Consultants to include this tour in a tailor-made holiday to Australia.
