Northland is the sub-tropical part of New Zealand with its beaches and ancient Kauri trees. The region is an aquatic playground where you can dive, sail, fish or swim with dolphins. During your holiday in the Bay of Islands we recommend taking a half day, fly and drive trip up to Cape Reinga, New Zealand’s northernmost point. You’ll fly over some spectacular coastal scenery before joining a tour of the area including 90 mile beach where you’ll have time for a stroll and a quick swim. You could even try a spot of sand boarding.

Cruise around the islands by yacht. Choose from a tall ship adventure or perhaps join a dolphin cruise. Alternatively charter your own 60ft yacht and explore the Bay, complete with skipper. There is also an option to join an overnight cruise to spend longer exploring the beautiful islands.

As an overnight (if time permits), a day excursion, or even as a stop on your way back south, visit Hokianga on the west coast for a cruise on the harbour, or be guided through the Waipoua Kauri Forest by local Maori guides and learn how these trees inter-twined with the lives of their ancestors.
