Lawley Farm - Barossa Valley, South Australia
Combining old world charm, history, tranquillity and a touch of modern day luxury, Lawley Farm is situated in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia’s most famous wine region, the perfect location to base yourself while exploring for a couple of days. Set among six acres of Australian garden and Lawley Farm Vineyards, Lawley Farm is an hour's drive north of Adelaide (70km).
The four suites are housed in the renovated 1850s settler’s cottage, barn and stables. Set among the acres of gardens, fields and vineyards, all feature a private entrance, television, refrigerator, air conditioning and heating, and some have log fires and spa baths. Other little luxuries and essentials are provided to ensure you feel at home, including ceiling fans, radio, VCR/DVD, CD player and kitchenette.
Cooked breakfast, with a pot of tea or plunger coffee and toast, is served to your room, or you can enjoy it al fresco in the gardens. Freshly laid farm eggs feature heavily on the menu, and your fridge houses the milk, fruit juices and mineral water, with the cereals, teas and coffee tucked away in the larder.
You don’t have to wander too far to explore wineries as five of the region's outstanding ones are a short walk down the road. The local village, Tanunda, a popular tourist town, is walking distance (4km) away, bursting with a choice of eating options, and antiques and collectable shopping. You may choose to stay at home and enjoy a barbeque in the gardens, before retiring to your suite to enjoy a glass or two of local port.
