7 Day The Fall Colours of Nova Scotia Western Tour

Itinerary Information

All Bridge & Wickers holidays are tailor-made and no two are the same. We have made some accommodation suggestions, however we will tailor your quote to your preferred standard and style of accommodation.

A perfect six night itinerary combining the bays and inlets of the southern shores with the World Heritage town of Lunenburg, historic Annapolis Royal and Wolfville and the rich autumnal colours of the Kejimkujik national park.

HalifaxDays 1and 2 - Halifax

After a swift passage through award-winning airport and a 30 minute transfer you’ll be checking into your Halifax downtown historic townhouse hotel, the Halliburton. Your two night stay allows for a full day to explore the Halifax waterfront boardwalk, take a sail around the world’s second largest natural harbour on a tall ship, visit the Maritime museum, Pier 21 where a million immigrants were processed and the old citadel.

LunenburgDays 3 and 4 - Lunenburg

Follow the Lighthouse Trail along the hugely south shore, stopping at Peggy’s Cove lighthouse, the postcard icon which sits on great sweep of pinkish granite rocks, as well as lovely waterside towns like Chester and Mahone Bay.

Lunenburg is a delightful Unesco World Heritage town whose old gridded core of 18th and 19th century buildings, built by fishermen in a distinctive style, stands on a hill above the harbour. You’ll stay for two nights at the historic Mariner King Inn.

Lunenburg ArmsDay 5 - Annapolis Royal

On your journey to the north coast allow for a two or three hour stop in Kejimkujik, an ecological jewel of a National Park and a great place to try your hand at canoeing. You’ll spend the night at the Queen Anne Inn in Annapolis Royal, a handsome town on the banks of the Annapolis River with lots of heritage buildings.

Maple LeavesDay 6 - Wolfville

Wolfville, your next night’s stop, is a pretty university town, again on the water (there’ll be time in the afternoon for a walk along the sea wall) with lots of leafy streets and heritage homes. Accommodation is in the Blomidon Inn, an enormous Victorian house and garden although you might prefer to dine at the Domaine de Grand Pre vineyard, a ten minute drive away. The Grand Pre National Historic Site, telling the shameful tale of the Brits forcing the Acadians from their homes.

Day 7 - Fly home

On the last day you would drive back to Halifax in time for your flight home unless you’re planning to combine the itinerary with the eastern loop. Please look at the eastern itinerary for further details.
