All Bridge & Wickers holidays are tailor-made and no two are the same. We have made some accommodation suggestions, however we will tailor your quote to your preferred standard and style of accommodation.
Combine all the iconic highlights of Western Canada with, at the end of each day’s exploring, nights at some of Canada’s finest hotels and lodges.
Days 1 and 2 VANCOUVER
Standing with its feet in the water and its head in the mountains, Vancouver is the most scenic of Canada’s big cities, offering a unique blend of both urban and natural attractions. Among the must-sees are the second largest Chinatownin the west (after San Francisco’s); Stanley Park (hire a bike and pedal past the giant cedars, beaches, temperate rain forest and totem poles); the funky Yaletown warehouse district; the outstanding Museum of Anthropology (don’t miss the collection of Northwest Coast First Peoples’ art); cable car rides to the top of Grouse Mountain for jaw-dropping views; and the vibrantly painted aluminium warehouses in Granville market. We’d also recommend taking a seaplane to dinner at Horseshoe Bay, returning to your hotel, the Shangri-La, set in the heart of the city, an easy walk to all downtown shops, restaurants, theatres, Stanley Park and the stores on Robson Street.

Days 3, 4 and 5 TOFINO
Pick up your car hire and take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, then swing west to the wild Pacific shores where the rollers turn up, often with an awesome head of froth and foam after their uninterrupted journey all the way from Japan. You’ll stay for three nights in one of Canada’s most exclusive properties, the Wickaninnish Inn, which enjoys a spectacular Pacific Rim location with direct access to the beach and has an Aveda spa. We can easily arrange whale watching and black bear viewing during your stay.

Days 6 and 7 WHISTLER
Host to several events in the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler is an equally active resort in the summer. You’ll also have the first afternoon and evening to potter, even take a scenic flight with a glacier landing. Such is the menu of activities at Whistler that you might easily be tempted to add a day or two to your itinerary. Examples of those we can arrange include 4WD tours, horse riding, tree canopy walk, or even ‘zipline’ through the trees. You’ll stay at the Four Seasons Hotel, situated on Blackcomb Mountain, just a few minutes walk from Whistler village. The 273 guest rooms and suites capture the spirit of a luxurious mountain residence, with cosy wood interiors and fireplaces.

Days 8, 9 and 10 ECHO VALLEY
The Cariboo region stretches from the Fraser Canyon to the Cariboo Mountains. In the midst of these ranch lands you’ll find – and stay at – the remarkable 15 room Echo Valley Ranch and Spa, the latter offering a range of authentic Thai therapies. You can also go horse riding, mountain biking, hiking or just luxuriate in the hot tub.
Day 11 WELLS GREY PROVINCIAL PARK
You’ll drive right through the spine of the Rockies, crossing the Great Divide where a single drop of rainwater has to decide on either a Pacific or Atlantic destiny. There’ll be time to hike or horse ride in the Wells Grey Provincial Park from Alpine Meadows Resort located at the entrance to the park and where you’ll be spending the night.
Days 12 and 13 JASPER
Another full, jaw-dropping day on the road, including the sight of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies. In Jasper you’ll be staying for two nights in the Jasper Park Lodge, whose lakeside log cabins once welcomed Marilyn Monroe. Room service is by bicycle and a bagpiper greets the dusk. On your free day we can arrange all sorts of activities, from river rafting to heli-hiking and cruising on Lake Maligne.

Days 14, 15 and 16 LAKE LOUISE
The Rocky Road Show starts here. Take the 140 mile Icefields Parkway, one of the world’s most amazing roads which runs cheek by jowl to the Rockies’ highest, most rugged, castellated, saw-toothed peaks, following a valley studded with lakes like spillages of brilliant paint. The Canadian Rockies are drive-in mountains. Fifteen great glacial tongues of ice can be seen from the road. There’s even a drive-on glacier, the Athabasca, where a ‘Snocoach’ mounted on obese tyres will carry you onto the Columbian Icefield, a 160 square mile, 1000 feet thick duvet of permanent ice and snow, the largest mass outside the Polar regions. It could swallow the whole of Vancouver in one giant gulp.
Lake Louise is an incredible sight, a sheer amphitheatre of mountains cradling a massive glacier, the entire scene perfectly mirrored in the still, pale waters of the lake. You’ll stay at the Post Hotel, perched at 1500 metres amid the natural wonders of Banff National Park and offering a range of activities.
