The Sunshine Coast region begins to the north of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland and stretches along a coastline that encompasses naturally sandy beaches and lush unexploited wilderness. From Langdale and Gibsons in the south to Powell River and Lund in its north, the coast is backed by stunning mountainous scenery and hidden sounds offering spectacular views.
Kayaking, canoeing, biking, golfing and fishing are just a small sampling of the activities available. Urban dwellers will find themselves enticed by the area’s funky shops and eclectic restaurants. The Sunshine Coast also boasts an active art community that is strongly influenced by Aboriginal history and traditions, as well as numerous year-round festivals and events.
The Sunshine Coast can be incorporated into a circular self drive from Vancouver, north along the coast, across to Vancouver Island by ferry, with time spent at one of the resorts on the Island before driving south to Victoria or across to Tofino and back to Vancouver.
