Wells Gray Provincial Park encompasses over 5000 square kilometres of wilderness in south-eastern British Columbia. The north of the Park is the wild, untravelled country of the Cariboo mountains, with craggy peaks, ice-fields and hidden valleys. The mountains in the south of the Park put on wildflower displays each summer that are among the best in Canada. The broad volcanic plateau in the centre of the Park is carved with spectacular canyons and waterfalls
Western Canada is a king size holiday playground for families. The sheer scale of the scenery will score high on the ‘wow’ index, as will the likely sightings of wildlife, whales and bears included. There’s also an abundance of activities to thrill all ages, from white water rafting to kayaking, zip wiring to mountain biking, mostly organised from the resorts (where two bedroom apartments, cabins or suites are generally available).
British Columbia is famous for spectacular mountains and remote coastal backwaters. This self drive goes a little further taking in the wineries in Kelowna and a lodge experience in the Chilcotin Mountains with plenty of activities from horse riding, fishing, hiking, ATV’s and of course relaxation, as well as visiting the essential sights of the Rockies, Whistler and Tofino on Vancouver Island.
Nestled on the shores of beautiful HallamoreLake, this wilderness resort offers peaceful ambiance and sweeping views of the lake, lush forests and snow-capped mountains.
