Journey to the very edge of the Arctic ice floe where wildlife congregates in abundance. It’s home to pods of exotic narwhal, their misty breath sparkling in the 24 hour sun, polar bears, seals, walrus as big as cars, an incredible variety of sea birds including thick billed Murre, Kittiwake, Guillemot and Ivory Gull and the rare Bowhead and Beluga whales. In early summer, with the sun shining throughout the day and most of the night (constantly in May and June), the temperatures are warmer than you might expect (averaging from -5°C to +10°C).

Arctic Kingdom, a specialist operator to this remote, amazing world, has a choice of four itineraries, available at different times, lasting 7 or 8 days and each limited to between 4 and 12 participants.

The Arctic Chalet, Inuvik

Enjoy the beauty of nature at the lakeside Arctic Chalet in the Arctic and the convenience of being only two kilometers from the town of Inuvik.

7 day - Polar Bears and Northern Lights of the Torngat Moutains - March / April

This very intimate four person 8 day trip is set in the foothills of one of Canada’s remotest mountain ranges – the Torngat Mountains. Combining stunning scenery, the exquisite and awe inspiring northern lights, top-of-the-line remote accommodations in a new Arctic Igloo Dome base camp, delicious meals, and best of all – and the main reason for coming – up close and personal polar bear photograph opportunities under the professional guidance of local Inuit guides, this is a truly exceptional trip.

Mid-March to April polar bears begin to move onto the sea ice and into the fiords near the Torngat Mountains of northern, Nunavik in search of seal pups. Large male bear – giants on the ice, juvenile bears as well as mothers and cubs can be found seen. The world of the polar bears and the cubs is a one of ice, a frozen land-scape and set in the foothills of the Torngat mountains. The entry point to the polar bear areas – potentially even denning areas, will be based out of the Inuit community of Kangiqsualujjuaq – or commonly known as “George River”, with a population of 600 mainly Inuit people.

5 Day - 4 Night Arivat Polar Bear Migration Fly-In Photo Safari - October/November

Fly-in to Arctic Kingdom’s remote polar bear cabin camp set along the coast of Hudson Bay for a polar bear viewing experience like none other.  Observe polar bears directly from the cabins as polar bears lounge on shore waiting for the ice to freeze.

8 day / 7 night Arctic Narwhal and Polar Bear Safari - June

The intent of this trip is to introduce you to the Arctic at the best time of year – as Spring transitions to summer and the abundant wildlife in it’s most raw and natural setting. Arctic wildlife is widely dispersed in the Baffin Region. The prevalence of Arctic wildlife, such as Narwhal or Polar bears, at any given time, is dependent upon the weather, the presence of pack ice, the abundance seals and other natural factors. In the Pond Inlet area, you can expect a truly unique Arctic experience and spectacular scenery, but we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings.

9 Days / 8 Nights - Polar Bears and Glaciers of Baffin Island – August

Set outside of one of Canada’s most stunning national parks – Auyuittuq National Park along the rugged and awe-inspiring glacier capped and iceberg studded coastline of south eastern Baffin Island ,you will have the opportunity to enjoy long days of the Arctic summer and seemingly ‘all night’ sunsets from the comfort of an Arctic Kingdom safari-style base camp exploring the natural habitat of the polar bears on land, and bowhead whales on the sea.

Spend your days soaking in the views of mirror smooth water, speckled with ice bergs reflecting the mountain peaks around. Pick blueberries, visit Thule ruins and grill the Arctic Char caught from the teaming river next to camp.

8 day - Walrus and Bowhead Arctic Safari – July

A journey onto an beyond the ice floe edge to view the gregarious and inquisitive Walrus and the enormous and playful Bowhead whale.

Bowheads are one of the rarest of whale species. Hunted nearly to extinction by commercial whalers, they are encouragingly making a slow comeback. Rarely seen even in their native Arctic waters, it is always a very special moment to see them spy hopping along the horizon. The Foxe Basin bowhead spring migration is well known to the Inuit in the high Arctic and to wildlife filmmakers.
