The Malaysian island of Penang is probably best known for its UNESCO-listed heritage status and its unique cuisine. However, the island is now rapidly getting recognition for its annual jazz festival that continues to attract a wealth of talent from across the Asia-Pacific region.
This year’s event will be staged for four days from 1st - 4th December with performances on the main stage, five fringe stages, one sunset stage, all backed by a number of support activities.
Keeping in line with the intention of creating a “total music festival experience”, a number of support musical activities will be held in conjunction with the mainstream festival such as afternoon fringe programmes held in different venues including: the Bay View Beach Resort; the Hard Rock Hotel; the Park Royal Penang Resort; Lone Pine Hotel; and the G Hotel.
Other activities include an “evening with sessions”, musical workshops, an island jazz forum, a jazz gallery exhibition of posters, a charity dinner and jazz and poetry sessions.
