My passion for travel began at an early age when I took my first flight to Australia before my first birthday. My love for the country must have been truly cemented because it was the first of many regular trips over subsequent years. After leaving school, for example, I spent a year backpacking around Australia and New Zealand as well as USA.
After three years at university I decided to take my passion for travelling further and work in the travel industry, enabling me to travel in Africa and Asia as well as Down Under. In 2004 I took a career break and spent 18 months travelling overland from Mexico to the southernmost tip of Argentina and then back again. Since working for Bridge and Wickers I have again returned to Australia and seen the beauty of French Polynesia . I have also been heavily involved in setting up the Canada programme which was launched a couple of years ago. Since then I have travelled to Canada five times where I have been lucky enough to see bears in the wild, ski the Rockies and helicopter over Niagara and am now wondering where my next trip may be (hint, hint….).
Favourite place
There are too many places to mention but one place that holds a special memory for me is King Pacific Lodge, a floating Lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest of Northern British Columbia, accessed by float plane. The area is a remote wilderness like never seen before with not a soul in sight except for the odd whale and bear. The Spirit bear, a bear with a recessive gene making it white, which can only be seen in September is found in the area and I was lucky to spot a few on my recent trip, it was truly magical.
