Tasmania is Australia’s smallest state, located off the south east coast accessible by flights from Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane as well as ferry from Melbourne. Tasmania’s east coast is famous for its stunning coastal scenery, particularly the Freycinet National Park, with pink granite mountains, pure white beaches, coastal dunes and dry eucalypt forests. Freycinet is famous for Wineglass Bay, just one of its white sandy beaches and waters that are perfect for sea kayaking, swimming and scuba diving. The Tasman Peninsula is located in the southeast corner of the island and is home to the world’s southern-most historic prison at Port Arthur where you’ll return to mid-19th century Van Diemens Land. Apart from these ruins, the Tasman National Park has some spectacular walks through forests, along sea cliffs and sweeping beaches.
