New South Wales is a region of Australia that could warrant an entire holiday as there are so many diverse landscapes and experiences on offer. With Sydney as your starting point you can easily drive to the Blue Mountains and the Hunter Valley within a few hours as well as visit wonderful places on the coast both to the north and south of the city.
Sydney is Australia’s oldest and biggest city, set on one of the world’s most stunning harbours. Take a walk around the historic heart of the city, known as the Rocks, visit the Opera House, climb the Harbour Bridge or take the ferry to the seaside resort of Manly or the shops, restaurants and museums at Darling Harbour. Sydney is also a perfect starting point to explore the region with most of its highlights within a few hours drive of the city.
The Blue Mountains are a 90 minute drive west of Sydney and are famous for their one million hectares of eucalyptus carpeted World Heritage-listed landscapes with endless stretches of sandstone cliffs, dramatic waterfalls and hidden canyons.
Just a few hours drive north of Sydney the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s best loved wine regions, is easily visited on a day tour or as part of a longer self drive north to Brisbane along the central coast of New South Wales.
