With Brisbane as the international gateway but also flights to local airports, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are easily incorporated into any holiday to Australia.
Brisbane has a sophisticated, warm and friendly charm. It is a vibrant city centre where glass office towers and sandstone heritage buildings share broad, tree-lined streets or front the river. Enjoy alfresco cafes, parks and riverside walks. Within an easy drive from Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast where you can soak up sunny sophistication on Noosa’s Hasting Street or meet koalas in the coastal rainforest of Noosa National Park. Ride a mountain bike, abseil the volcanic peaks of Glasshouse Mountains or trek through rainforest in Kondalilla National Park. Browse cafes, country pubs, art and antique galleries in the sleepy mountain villages in the hinterland. Further north is Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, home to giant sand dunes and more than 40 freshwater lakes plus the largest rainforest growing in sand in the world.
South of Brisbane is the Gold Coast. With 70 kilometres of sun-drenched beaches, theme parks, shopping and nightlife. The beach areas are quite developed so we recommend venturing inland where a totally different world unfolds - the green behind the gold. A world of tropical World Heritage listed rainforests, rock pools and waterfalls, mountain villages and other hidden treasures.
