Port Douglas

Located an hour’s drive north of Cairns, Port Douglas offers a sophisticated and low-key escape. Known as a glamorous hotspot for the rich and famous, Port Douglas still manages to retain an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere: you'll only find buildings up to three stories high, not much taller than the nearby palm trees, boutique clothing shops and exquisite alfresco restaurants.  A visit to Four Mile Beach, where you can laze away the day on the pristine sand, is essential. Enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes scattered along Macrossan Street or spend the afternoon shopping at the Marina Mirage.

Port Douglas is also a popular base from which to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforests of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Other excursions we can arrange include hot air ballooning, helicopter trips to the reef and rainforest, and trips into the hinterland.

We’d particularly recommend a trip out to the reef on one of the smaller family owned charters boats or, for a slightly more exclusive option, join a sailing catamaran heading out to the reef with just a handful of other passengers. Another must do is a trip into the World Heritage listed Daintree and Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the sea. Enroute you’ll cruise on the Daintree River where crocodiles can normally be seen basking on the muddy banks.
