Cairns is a vibrant, eclectic city framed by the spectacular twin backdrops of rainforest mountain ranges and the sparkling Coral Sea. The Cairns Esplanade is the city's main attraction with a lovely oceanfront promenade and saltwater swimming lagoon. You'll find numerous restaurants, bars and hotels lining all offering beautiful waterfront views.
We can book a number of different experiences from Cairns, including hot air ballooning, white water rafting, trips into the hinterland and up into the Daintree rainforest.
If you are keen to visit the Great Barrier Reef we’d suggest a sailing catamaran cruise to Michaelmas Cay, a natural sand cay which gives you the option of relaxing on the sand as well as exploring the underwater treasures. We would recommend a day tour to Kuranda; surrounded by World Heritage listed rainforest, Kuranda Village offers a famous market, boutique stores and arts and crafts shops. Getting to the village is on the Skyrail that takes you up and over the rainforest.
Whilst Cairns is the gateway city to the north it is not located on the beach and is quite developed so it is ideal as a pre or post night before a longer cruise or island stay. For a longer stay you should consider going a little further north to Palm Cove or Port Douglas, both smaller more intimate beach resorts with boutique shops and local restaurants.
