Broome located in Australia’s north-west and is the southern gateway to the Kimberley. It is an interesting, multi-cultural town with beautiful beaches, including Cable Beach with its 22 kms of white sand, lapped by warm, crystal waters and the ideal place to watch the sunset on a balmy, tropical night. Pearl showrooms line the streets of Chinatown where you'll also find art galleries, shops and cafes and the Sun Pictures open-air cinema.

Broome is the perfect base from which to discover the stunning gorges of the Western Kimberley. There are many small group overnight tours into this remote region, although we highly recommend a short flight both to save time and to enjoy spectacular views from the air. A Kimberley Explorer flight takes you across vast acres of cattle country to Fitzroy Crossing, where you join a boat cruise on the mighty Fitzroy River through the dramatic rock formations of the Geikie Gorge (where fresh water crocs often put in an appearance for the benefit of photographers). You then fly on to Windjana Gorge, formed by the Lennard River cutting through a 350million-year-old Devonian period reef, for lunch at Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge, before flying above Horizontal Waterfalls.

Alternatively, a shorter flight will take you over the stunning offshore islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, across the Dampier Peninsula and King Sound to the Horizontal Waterfalls, You’ll land at Cape Leveque for a swim and refreshments at the gorgeous and remote beach.
