Wildman Wilderness Lodge

Wildman Wilderness Lodge

Description

Wildman Wilderness Lodge is situated halfway between Darwin and Kakadu on the beautiful Mary River Wetlands, the emphasis is on the best of cultural and nature-based tourism. The main lodge building is at the centre of the Wildman experience. It epitomises Top End architecture and is designed for maximum comfort throughout the seasons. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal with a feeling of comfort and quality.

Environmental best practice technology has been optimised in all operational aspects of the generation of power and the treatment of water and sewerage, with the aim of creating minimal environmental impact.

Wildman offers two distinct styles of accommodation: 15 air-conditioned Habitats and 15 spacious Safari Tents.

Habitats are fully air-conditioned, free-standing structures with all the amenities expected from a luxury lodge including premium quality furnishings, king size beds and en suite bathrooms. Four of the rooms are joined under a shared roof creating two duel-room compounds, offering the perfect setting for family or friends travelling together.

Safari Tents are surprisingly spacious at 50sqm. Each is fan-cooled with a private en suite bathroom and luxurious bedding. 5 larger Safari Tents are available for families, accommodating up to four people.

The restaurant, situated in the main lodge building, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering guests a variety of sumptuous options showcasing seasonal produce from around Australia (packages are available including breakfast and dinner in the daily rate).

The lodge offers a range of experiences including tours, cruises and safaris that cater for a variety of interests. These include Home Billabong Sunset Cruise, Mary River Wetlands Cruise, Overland Wetland Safaris, Aboriginal Cultural Tours of nearby Fogg Dam Wetlands and Kakadu National Park, Overland Quad Bike Safaris and Cattle Station Tours. Touring can also be designed to cater for special interests when requested in advance. This may include fishing, photography, bird watching or guided bush walks.

Testimonial

The “Habitat” accommodation was first class.  There was an excellent Lodge area, comprising very comfortable bar and restaurant areas as well as a very nice infinity swimming pool.  First class food in the restaurant.  We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would rate it as five star. They did arrange an airboat trip over the wetlands that went from Camour Plains some 45 minutes up the road.  This was a first class, one and a half hour, tour of the wetlands and the wildlife. r & Mrs McConnell
