Day 1
Arrive Cape Town. You will be met on arrival and assisted with collecting your Group C hire car (VW Polo or similar).  If you prefer, we can arrange a transfer for you and for the car to be delivered. Drive to Oranjezicht for a 3-night stay in a luxury room at Four Rosmead, breakfast included. One of our favourite 4-star guesthouses, Four Rosmead is well placed for enjoying the Kloof Street cafés, museums and galleries and strolls to Green Market Square.

Days 2 & 3
There is so much to do and see in Cape Town.  Most people will want to go up Table Mountain and see the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.  We think the Chapman’s peak drive is one of the world’s great road trips and we always enjoy sunset at Hout Bay.  There is seasonal whale-watching and shark diving, the stunning Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and a plethora of beaches of different characters.

Day 4
Drive to the Winelands’ town of Franschhoek for a 2-night stay at Rusthof Country House, breakfast included.

Day 5
Franschhoek has a strong claim to be the culinary capital of South Africa.  Wander along the café-lined streets, visit some of the nearby ‘wine farms’ and enjoy the mountain views from the lovely country house gardens.  

Day 6
It’s a scenic drive through mountain passes to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world since 1863. Overnight in a luxury room at De Zeekoe Guest Farm, breakfast included.

Day 7
We would recommend you start your day with a visit to the meerkat colony.  After breakfast, you can stop at an ostrich farm to see how the birds are farmed, and visit the museums and national monuments reflecting Oudtshoorn’s history and the “ostrich feather boom” of the early 1900’s. Drive through the dramatic mountains to the coast to stay 3 nights in a suite at Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Days 8 & 9
Spend two days enjoying the beautiful beaches of Plettenberg Bay, the dramatic rocky Robberg Peninsula, lagoons and estuaries, indigenous forests and crystal-clear rivers; activities from the forest canopy walk and mountain bike trails to boat trips in Knysna Lagoon or seasonal whale-watching, bird-watching and sea-kayaking tours; exploring nature reserves and spectacular scenery, visiting a rural township or pottering among the shops of Knysna’s historic centre and quays. . .

Day 10
Drive to Port Elizabeth for the flight to Johannesburg, where you connect onto the flight to Kruger-Mpumalanga International Airport for the light aircraft transfer into the Sabi Sand Wildlife Reserve.
Stay 3 nights in a suite at Djuma Vuyatela Lodge, all meals, local drinks, two game drives and one guided walking trail per day included.

Days 11 & 12
The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve is an enormous area of private land on the western side of Kruger National Park. The boundary is unfenced, so the animals move freely between the reserve and the park. The reserve is particularly good for lion and leopard. Combined with the skills of their excellent rangers and trackers, the exclusivity of the Djuma Vuyatela concession provides all the conditions for rewarding game-viewing.

Day 13
After the morning game drive and brunch, you will be transferred by road to Kruger airport, where you connect with the flight to Johannesburg. Depart on the South African Airways overnight flight to London.
