Cape Town and a safari in the heart of the African bush are two components of a classic holiday in South Africa. What better way to link the two experiences than travelling on board the “most luxurious train in the world”, cruising through the open landscapes of the Karoo and spectacular scenery of the Western Cape.

Days 1 - 3: Madikwe Safari
On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met and transferred by road to Madikwe Game Reserve to stay 3 nights at the luxury Makanyane Safari Lodge. Enjoy spectacular game viewing, fine dining and stunning suites.

Days 4 - 5: Rovos Rail
You will be transferred to Capital Park Station in Pretoria for drinks and canapés before boarding Rovos Rail for your two night journey through the barren Karoo and spectacular landscapes of the Western Cape to Cape Town. You will also stop in Kimberley, famous for diamond mining and the location of the world’s largest man-made hole. In the evening, dress for dinner (a four-course affair accompanied by fine South African wines), followed by a night cap and perhaps a game of cards with other guests before bed in your luxurious en suite compartment.

Days 6 - 9: Cape Town
Arrive at Cape Town station and transfer to the landmark Cape Grace Hotel in the heart of the Waterfront. Spend four nights discovering the sights and sounds of Africa’s most beautiful city.  A hire car will be delivered to your hotel.

Day 10
After a final day in Cape Town, return your car at the airport and fly home.
