Governors offer excellent special offers when combining one of their Masai Mara camps with Mfangano Island lodge and Loldia House on Lake Naivasha. Please ask us for details.
Governors’ Camp is a 37-tent camp set in the forest alongside the Mara River. Although the area is rich in game all year round, the highlight is undoubtedly the great wildebeest migration across the river between July and September, commonly cited as one of nature’s most awesome experiences.
Each of the classic safari-style tents has recently been upgraded and features a large en suite bathroom and private veranda. Breakfast and lunch are served outside, when the weather permits. Dinner is a four course affair generally served in the spacious dining area.
Like its smaller sister camp, Governors’ has a fabulous location right at the heart of the action. Three game drives are offered each day in custom built 4WDs accompanied by excellent guides and trackers. Bush walks are offering in an adjoining conservancy. Governors’ is the home of hot-air ballooning in the Mara and staying here means you will have the shortest drive to the launch site.
Governors’ have an impressive commitment to supporting local communities. They are an excellent employer as evidenced by the significant number of long-serving staff. Since 1998, they have planted an average of 45 trees per month and are pioneering a bio-gas plant in a couple of Masai villages to try the destruction of woodlands for firewood with stoves powered by dung.
