All Bridge & Wickers holidays are tailor-made and no two are the same. We have made some accommodation suggestions, however we will tailor your quote to your preferred standard and style of accommodation.
Have just a week to spare? We recommend a week at the spectacular Royal Zambezi Lodge. With no jet-lag and direct flights from London: this holiday makes an ideal escape to the bush with outstanding game viewing and Zambia’s first and (so far) only bush spa.
Days 1-7: Royal Zambezi Lodge – Lower Zambezi
Arrive at Lusaka Airport and take a short 25 minute scenic flight into the Lower Zambezi. As you fly into the area, you will see the wide Zambezi River, dotted with islands. Buffalo and elephant are often seen feeding along with the pods of hippos that rest on the edge of the sandbanks. You’ll be met on your arrival at the airstrip and transferred to the Royal Zambezi Lodge for a seven night stay in a classic suite – keep your eyes peeled, there is plenty of wildlife to be seen as you drive through the bush! The lodge is an outpost of contemporary style and comfort at the heart of a completely unspoiled wilderness experience.
One of the things we love most about this particular area is the variety of activities on offer. Spend your days on morning, afternoon or evening game drives, take a boat safari, canoe on the Zambezi River or try your hand at fishing (strict catch and release for most species) with one of the lodge’s expert guides. You could also opt for a walking safari for a different perspective.
The Lower Zambezi is a key national park of Zambia and lies between the rugged and dramatic Zambezi escarpment and the wide and spectacular Zambezi River. The Zambezi runs for 120 km through the park and with the protection of the Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe on the opposite side this is a haven for wildlife. There are many channels, lagoons, sandbanks and islands along the river and then open plains, woodland and bush areas behind the riverine strip. The river is a massive attraction to this park - to spend time boating, drifting, canoeing on this extraordinary river with breathtaking views all around is a wonderful experience.
