We have chosen Elephant Bedroom and Governors' Camp mainly for the quality of the guiding and for their locations in their respective national parks. The tented accommodation is attractive and comfortable all right, but the quality of your safari was the foremost consideration.

In addition, Elephant Bedroom offers the opportunity for a deeper encounter with Samburu culture, for those who are interested. Governors' has been working on conservation and community support programmes with the community - its neighbours - for the past 35 years and would love to show you some of the results.

Depart from London Heathrow on the Kenya Airways overnight flight to Nairobi.

Connect with the Safarilink morning flight to Samburu for a 3-night stay in a luxury tent at Elephant Bedroom Camp by the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The new pool is refreshing after a game drive - and a good spot to relax after indulging in another delicious meal.

Safari transfer to the airstrip for the Safarilink direct flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival, you have a game-drive transfer to Governors' Main Camp, set in the forest beside the Mara River. Spend your days observing the abundant wildlife on game drives and while enjoying your meals in the open dining tent, which overlooks the plains and the Mara River. Your luxury safari tent has en suite facilities, a private verandah and is lit by atmospheric gas lamps.

Day 8

After the morning game activities and lunch, you have a game-drive transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Ukunda, where you are met and transferred to Diani Beach for a 4-night stay in a bright and airy ocean-view room at a real little gem, Water Lovers. Enjoy a range of activities from kite-surfing to yoga - or laze on your private verandah, the beach or beside the pool. Eat fabulous fusion food at Tides, the Water Lovers restaurant, and sample some of the other restaurants nearby.

Transfer to Ukunda for the later afternoon to Nairobi where you will be met, taken for dinner at one of the lovely restaurants in Karen (cost of meal to own account) and then to JKIA to check in for the Kenya Airways overnight flight to London.

Arrive London Heathrow in the early morning.
